San Diego’s
talent pool floats some 200
active blues bands into over
two hundred live blues performances
every month. The local blues scene is
broad and lively with dozens of venues
offering blues performances and jams
on all nights of the week, all around
town.
The greater San Diego music and club scene goes off year ‘round, and blues is a local mainstay. National acts love to tour here for the same reasons that make San Diego a travel destination – the weather, the natural beauty, and the somehow laid-back, yet urbane lifestyle.
Other southern California based artists often come down to gig from Long Beach, Los Angeles, Riverside, and even San Francisco.San Diego is a long way from Clarksdale, New Orleans, the Texas panhandle, or Chicago – this is an example of the fundamental acceptance and dissemination of the blues musical form as “All-American,” and San Diego is, after all, “America’s Finest City.” Come on out and join San Diego blues lovers for a good time (soon and often!).

Blues Lovers United of San Diego (BLUSD) is a non-profit, membership driven 501c3 corporation affiliated with The Blues Foundation of Memphis, TN. We actively promote all aspects of blues music throughout Southern California through a variety of activities.
